How to Play Go Tell Aunt Rhody on (Recorder)
“Go tell Aunt Rhody” is an American folk song that originated in Europe during the 18th century, the tune was a Gavotte in the opera “Le devain du village”( the village Soothsayer) for the philosopher “Jean- Jacques Rousseau. It is used in the Recorder Methods, all along with “Mary Had a Little Lamb" to teach playing the fourth note (D’/ Ré) in the notes progression for beginner Recorder students.

And just like the (C’/Do) exercises, it is based on fingers motions and combinations including skips/thirds,

plus it introduces a leap/fifth from G/So to D’/ High Ré which moves students to a new level of playing other than by steps/seconds.
