How to Play Lightly Row on (Recorder)
“Lightly Row” is a 19th century American folk song, the Melody’s origins go back to Germany to a popular German Children song titled “Hänschen klein”, it is reproduced in many languages around the world. Recorder players practice this tune to explore moving their fingers and playing downward skips/thirds from D’/Ré to B/Ti
and from C’/Do to A/La.
In the last two measures they will practice playing an arpeggio in G/Sol, this motion will help them work on proper breath flow to be able to play clear pitches.
